Message I'm trying to get over a hump of expense of my Z needing s several things at the same time and have decided I can't bear to part with it, so we're gonna' hunker down and work overtime, get a game plan, work the steps. :-) Need tires, exhaust leak looked into, 120K tuneup, minor cosmetics.

What I'm wondering, and I know no one has a crystal ball, is what to expect in the future given these driving conditions: about 8,000 miles a year 1/2 high, 1/2 "around" town, but my town is rural, very little stop and go driving. I don't drive agressively. A short burst of 85 on the interstate makes me happy, but thoughts of blue lights keep me sane. I use a turbo timer, keep service done and oil changed probably more often than it has to be-- synthetic at 3,000 miles.

I keep reading about engine replacements and ESPECIALLY turbo replacements at around 130,000, and I'm wondering does this have to happen, or is that only with Z's used for racing (street or track)? Is the gently-driven Z going to blow the turbos no matter what and it's just something I should plan for? And the motor...I know people with crappy American cars who have 200,000 miles on them. Is an engine rebuild something that has to happen?

Other than that, the AC is the only other major thing I can think of that will probably go out, just because they all seem to eventually.

Any other surprises I haven't thought of to anticipate? I'm just wondering if I can spend about $3000 and be over the hump for awhile or if I need to start a trust fund for her.

Thanks!
Vicki
